Project Utah. Bringing The Spartans To Life.
by HC SLIK
It seems that the Spartans from the 405th are on the move. They have recently been spotted in Utah (United States) helping out with a video project collaboration between filmmaker Devin Graham and musician Lindsey Stirling.
The 405th forums are considered by many to be the central hub of the Halo costuming community. What is costuming you might ask? Well with haloween coming up (cwutididthar?) that is a fair question. These folks do not go down to your local Halloween super store and pick up some off-the-rack costumes, far from it. The 405th custom make the very best and most authentic Halo themed armor in the world. So good in fact that they are routinely invited to Microsoft industry events to show off their creations.
Famous you-tubers Devin Graham and Lindsey Stirling have enlisted the support of the 405th for a series of new video projects. Here is what our friends and affiliates at XBLGamerHub got from Devin about the project.
“I’m working on 2 live action Halo videos for my YouTube channel, I flew in 9 Halo costume makers from around the US for the project, with a weapons specialist who makes Halo gun replicas, so everything looked straight out of the videogame. The first video is a "Halo First Person Shooter" video. It will be very similar to Freddiew's FPS he did on Call of Duty, which is his most watched video, over 24 million hits. The difference with mine is first off, it's all with Halo characters from multi-player, with all Halo guns. Also you will hear the people playing/commentary as if they are playing on XBox Live. The 2nd video is a Halo music video featuring YouTuber Lindsey Stirling. We have done a couple video game music videos together”.
Lindsey Stirling is a hip-hop violinist who was a quarter finalist in the 2010 Americas got talent competition and has had a huge following (and success) on youtube ever since. She is no stranger to video game themed music having done Skyrim as well as Zelda themed videos and has even broken into the dubstep scene mixing the melody of Violin with smooth bass. She has also done one of my personal favorites Fire and Ice from the smash hit HBO series Game of Thrones.
“The concept for this Halo music video is Lindsey, the violin player, and another Piano player are playing in the forest, with 4 green Spartan characters protecting them. As the song progresses a battle takes place between blue/red vs green Spartans. We have all the weapons from the entire Halo series that we filmed with. So far though, with all the video game focused youtube videos I have*done, they have all gotten 10 million hits, or close to that. They*have been great for the video games involved. The last one I released*last month, "Assassin's Creed Meets Parkour in Real Life", got 9*million in the first 3 weeks, where Ubisoft contacted me, and actually *hired me to do another one because it did so much for them as far as a*marketing tool."
I have heard tell that the first bit of the video series is set to drop tomorrow, and with Lindsey providing the music with Devin shooting the action, this is going to be a must see for the Halo Community.
Huge shoutout to our friends and affiliates at XBLgamerhub for sharing this awesome info!
