On October 20th, 2012 gamers all around the world will be playing video games for 24 hours straight all to help children in need! Every year I stick it out for 24 hours with energy drinks and plenty of snacks at hand and encourage you all do the same! The great thing about this charity is you pick where you want to see this money go! There is a large list of Children's Hospitals / networks to choose from, many in your own backyards!
Extra-Life begins October 20th at 8AM in your timezone. You don't have to play for 24 hours straight and it doesn't have to be on just Xbox or PS - it can be as simple as playing games on your phone! Play whenever is convenient for you on that day or stick out for the entire 24 hours! It's all up to you!Extra Life began in 2008 as a way of honoring a young lady named Victoria Enmon. Tori’s battle against acute lymphoblastic leukemia inspired the Sarcastic Gamer Community in a way that is difficult to describe. Members sent in video games and bought gifts to keep Tori’s spirits up despite numerous hospital stays and three bouts with the deadly disease.
Tragically, we lost Tori to cancer in January 2008. Later that year, I asked my partners at Sarcastic Gamer if they would be interested in Extra Life, a 24-hour video game marathon to raise money for the hospital that treated and fought beside Tori. In 2008 and 2009 Extra Life raised a combined $302,000, 100 percent of which went directly to help kids like Tori at my local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (Texas Children’s Hospital).
While thousands of gamers, more than 100 websites and more than 12,000 donors were happy to support Extra Life, many expressed their desire to raise money to help kids closer to home. In what I can only consider destiny, in 2009 I left behind my radio career and went to work full-time for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as a Radiothon Director. This life-changing event gave me unique insight into an incredible non-profit organization that helps kids all over the United States and Canada.

If you purchased the platinum edition, you're eligible for the t-shirt if you're one of the first 500 participants to raise the appropriate amount of money ($200).Being an Extra Life Platinum member also means you may receive other prizes through giveaways only those members will be able to be a part of. If you have the classic - you get nothing sweet.
Last year I used Facebook and Twitter a ridiculous amount to raise money and we did extremely well raising over $2,000! I hope that you all join in and make this a very successful event!
We will have many lobbies set up during those 24 hours and once we're a little closer to the event we will have sign ups for lobbies as well as lobby leaders. *None of that information will be released until the beginning of October most likely* We will also have an award for participates and those who raise money for this wonderful event!
I hope to see you all out there with us raising money for children in need!
