    Advertising Partners

    Hey Guys and Girls!

    You may be asking yourselves, "What is this ad banner at the top of the forum page?"

    The answer to that question is...."It's an ad banner" lol

    The costs to run a dedicated cloud server are not inexpensive. I have given the tried and true donations route some thought and have decided against it. It just does not sit right with me to ask others for money.

    What I have done instead was found advertising partners. The thing that I hate the most about advertisements on websites is the lack of relevance. For example, if I am on a muscle car website, I do not want to see ads for My Little Pony. HOLD ON, don't worry everypony, I know we have a solid following of MLP here, I'm just giving you a hypothetical situation here.

    Back to the advertising partners, I have only partnered with companies that I feel are relevant to our site here and products that I feel people would enjoy. The core group of companies that are affiliates of Halo Community are:

    Microsoft
    Electronic Arts (their online store is called Origin)
    Gamestop.com
    Walmart.com
    Sony

    Will you see ads covering the site? No. Before you all start chanting "Slik is a sellout!" and grab your torches and pitchforks, hear me out. These ads will be for things you are probably going to buy anyway. Anyone here going to pre-order Halo 4? Exactly. So you get whatever you were going to buy anyway and you help out Halo Community in the process. Its a win-win!

    The other advantage is that our partners will give us heads up of exclusive deals and such when they are available such as discounts on Xbox 360's, Xbox Live Gold Memberships, Games, etc.

    I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up about what is going on here on the site. If I can offset some of the server costs, I can dedicate more resources to the tournament prize pool! On that note, stay tuned, we have some awesome tournaments with amazing prize trees, that will be announced shortly!
