This is the thread where we will address all concerns about the tournament. If your question is not answered here, feel free to ask about it in our chatbox, or reply to this thread.
First of all, I would like to thank all of you for signing up to participate in the tournament! Without you, this would not have been nearly as successful! If you have any questions as to how the tournament will be conducted, please check this thread first!
Where are the ladders posted / How do I know who to play?
Ladders can be found on our new tournament hub. This page has everything you need from brackets to game submission forms! Navigate to http://HaloCommunity.com/forums/bracket.php, or click that link.
Team names will be listed on the bracket. Find your team name, find your opponent, and check the rosters to see who to invite. The person listed first for your match on the bracket will be the Party Leader, and should be inviting the second team.
Rosters can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...OVUVad1E#gid=0
Alright, so I know who to play, but they aren't responding
For first round games, please allow until 3:15 PM EDT for games to begin. Anything after that, please notify one of the tournament coordinators, and we will handle the situation accordingly. Teams who participated in the 4v4 Qualifier ladder, that did not win, will fill in for First round DQ'd teams. Tournament coordinators will have an invite list.
Is each match just one game or a series of games?
Single elimination. This means you play each team one time, and if you lose... you're out!
Will all the games be played back-to-back, or will the games be spread apart?
Back to back. Watch the brackets, they update LIVE, no refresh needed!
How long do you expect the tournament will take?
Assuming everything goes 100%, about 2 1/2 hours. Please allow no less than 5 hours until completion, if your team plans on making it to the final round though. Disputes happen, Ties happen, No shows happen- All of these things delay future rounds.
We played our game, but we tied! What do we do?
There is a gametype for download on the file share of "HC Deja" called "HC CTF Tiebreaker". This is a shortened version of the game, first score wins. Play this, and report both games.
We played our game, How do I report it?
Go to http://HaloCommunity.com/forums/bracket.php. This page will include not only the bracket, but a submission form at the bottom. ONLY the winner of the game should submit the match, but it is the responsibility of the losing team to make sure everything is reported correctly.
On the page, there is also a button for "Find Game History" Type in your gamertag in that box, and you will be taken to your game history. Find the game, and copy that matches' URL into the submission thread. Important: PLEASE DO NOT NAVIGATE TO WAYPOINT ON YOUR OWN TO DO THIS, THERE IS A BUG ON THEIR SITE, WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW US TO VIEW YOUR GAME!
My teammate lagged out! What do we do?
If you, or any teammates leave, ragequit, or lag out of any game during the tournament, the game in-progress MUST continue without that player, and will count towards continuing in the tournament. That player may not return, or the team will be disqualified. Should your team win or tie without this player, he/she may return for the next game, or any tiebreaker rounds. No re-matches due to lag will be allowed.
What can't we do in a game, if we want to remain in the tournament?
1. Do not attempt to cheat, including escaping the map, this will get you booted from the event and blacklisted for future tournaments and events.
2. Do not hold the objective or stat whore in this event, there is no point. Attempting to do so will disqualify your team.
3. Keep it clean! Respect all other participants in our events, We encourage light trash-talking, but if someone is being racist or using severe bad language, speak to the HaloCommunity Tournament Managers. This can result in an instant DQ from the tournament and you may be banned from HC.
4. No spamming the forums or chatbox about the games played or the event in general. If anyone rages with reference to the tournament / hosts / players in either the Chatbox or Forums, that will win you an instant ban. You have been warned.
Alright, keep it clean. Got it. What gametype / map are we using for this? What should our lobby look like?
The event will be TU settings; 85% Bloom, No Bleedthrough, Sprint only (Current Matchmaking settings as of Mid-April). The tournament gametype, HC CTF 4v4, can be found on the file share of our community gamertag: HC Deja.
The map, Crypt, created by Noooooch can also be found on HC Deja's file share.
Please make sure your lobby is set to "Invite Only"
How do I download maps/gametypes now?
Since Bungie.net no longer allows direct download of files online, there is only one way you can download the maps.
-On your console, while playing reach, hit start, and navigate to "File Browser".
-Select "New Custom Search", then "File Share Search".
- Type in "HC DEJA" as the gamertag you want to find.
- All of the files you need for the Tournament will be there, and are named HC CTF 4V4 and Crypt.
The other team is cheating! What do I do?
Take a step back. Realize that there are some very talented players in this tournament, and also that lag is nearly inevitable in an online tournament.
If you have proof that the other team is cheating, lag-switching, or host-booting- please advise your tournament coordinator. We will review each dispute. Provide team name, and/or player which you suspect of cheating.
Who are the "tournament coordinators"?
There are several site staff helping to run this tournament. Among them are:
Sundown (Gamertag: Master Sundown)
HC Kegonomics (Gamertag: HC Kegonomics)
HC Slik (Gamertag: HC Slik)
HC PillarOfFire (Gamertag: HC PillarOfFire)
If you get an invite from any of these people, it would be wise to join the party/game ASAP, as it will likely pertain to a game submission, dispute, or question you may have asked.
In the site chatbox, anyone with a Purple color is a moderator, Yellow signifies Site Staff, and persons with a Red "TM" next to their name are Site Admins. It would be wise to listen to any of these people, though many of our users are also always happy to assist you
How are the seeds on the bracket chosen / How is __ Team ranked ahead of me?
The brackets' seeding is RANDOM. We are not going by order of signups, nor purposely putting any two teams together. We are sorry if you get knocked out 1st round by the best team, but something completely random can't always be in your favor.
My teammate didn't show up. Can we get a replacement?
Sorry, but no. Rosters are locked when the brackets were released.
Will there be a "neutral Host" or someone to stream? / Can we stream?
The map does not allow for this to happen. There is no need for a neutral host, Lag is inevitable in an online tournament. Please make sure everyone on your team has the best connection possible, and isn't downloading anything while playing. Wired > Wireless.
Regarding streaming, same thing. The map simply cannot accommodate someone streaming that isn't on a team. If you would like to stream, feel free. We also have a page on site that you can link your stream to, so that more people can watch! Go to http://halocommunity.com/forums/streams.php and click "Request Your Own Stream" at the bottom of the page!
What are missions? Do they concern me?
Missions are the newest thing on our site! Everyone is welcomed to participate in these, but participation is neither connected to, nor a required part of, this tournament. More information on HaloCommunity Missions can be found here:
Mission Control | Missions FAQ
Have any other questions? Post them below. If we answer it, we'll edit this post to include it for future reference! Remember, Check back to this thread when we unleash the bracket. Some of the earlier questions that refer to it will be edited appropriately! Once again, Thanks to all who are participating, Glad to have you on the site!
