4v4 CTF Qualifier Ladder!

We have filled up all 64 teams in the CTF tournament! Although it is too late to sign up and guarantee a spot, you can still win a spot!

We are opening the tournament to 68 Teams! Three teams can qualify for the remaining spots, but it's not as easy as signing up early. You will have to win the remaining spots. Beginning May 2nd at 5PM EST, A new ladder on HaloCommunity will open for signup. Unlike the May 20th CTF tournament, this ladder will use our on-site, free-to-use ladder system! You must sign up your team, and battle it out to claim one of the remaining spots! On May 18th at 11PM EST, This ladder will close, and the top four teams (rated by the ELO standard rating system) will take these spots!

This is very important. Teams who have already been confirmed will not be allowed to participate on this ladder, but no worries, there will be something announced very shortly for you folks!

Once we have taken the top three teams from this ladder, the remaining teams (again, ranked by ELO) will be put, in order, as a "queue line" of sorts. On May 20th (Tournament Day), should any team not show up for first-round games, we will begin inviting teams down the ladder until someone joins, and claims the spot!

Your team must play a minimum of three (3) games on the ladder to qualify

Basically, know that you may not get to join the tournament anymore, but you have a really good chance to still get in on the action, just by signing up for the 4v4 Qualifier ladder! Everything you need to know can be found here:

So essentially this tournament is going to have to be played similar to a March Madness bracket with 4 "play-in" games. If this is the case, how exactly are you determining the four teams that have to play an extra game? Are you going to have a few days where the teams that are confirmed for the tournament can play in a ladder so as to create a seeding system? Is it going to just be the last 4 teams that signed up? If that's the case, are we going to be seeded based off of when we signed up? Finally, is there a thread that can explain the exact proceedings of the tournament? I understand the First Round starts on the 20th at I believe 3 P.M., but do we just play every round until we're done then? Thanks.

Icy, Everything will be randomized. I will be inputting the list of all teams into random.org and it will randomly put them in order. I will assign numbers to each of these teams going straight down the random list. Sometimes, randomization doesn't work in your favor, and other times it will.

For the actual tournament, yes- it begins at 3PM EST on the 20th. You'll have to watch the bracket, and play your next game when it becomes available. We are estimating to allow 30-45 minutes for each round, including waiting for two teams to get in one lobby, playing the actual game, resolving any tie that may occur, and submission of game. But yes, it will play straight through once we begin.

We've had several teams sign up for the qualifier, but no team has played (or at least reported) any gameplay. As outlined, straight signups were already completed. There are a few sports left in which teams must compete for by playing at least three ladder matches. The top four of which would also get spots in the tourney.

However, it has become necessary to outline one key issue

If there are not four teams that complete at least three matches, we cannot accurately place these teams in the tournament, as we did not have enough qualifying teams. Needless to say- should this happen, and there are not enough qualifying games played by May 18th, then we will have no choice but to go back to a 64-team bracket.

You say: But my team is looking actively, and no one wants to play us!!!

Do not worry. We will still be using the teams signed up for the ladder to fill in for teams the are first round no-shows or DQ's, should there be any. I know which of the teams are actively trying to schedule matches, and those teams will take priority as substitutes, as well as teams that do complete at least 3 matches; again if there are any.

Please understand this outline is necessary, and is only going to be used in the hypothetical case that the terms of the qualifier are not met in the next week by its participants. Any questions can be directed to me in this thread.

Well, being that three days have passed, and over a weekend no doubt; and still no games have been reported, we will be cutting down to only three winners getting seeds in the tournament. There was an oversight and one of the teams from the regular 64 was not properly put on the rosters. Since this has been all but dead over here, the easiest place to allow for them to be put back in is over one of the extra spots that no one seems to want to claim.

I apologize for the oversight and any inconvenience this may cause your team.

I didn't get signed up for the ladder to qualify for one of the spots. Is there a waiting list I can put my team on? Just in case teams don't show up on Sunday.
